No, lots of cancer researchers are working with drugs or disease mechanisms (thus they have degrees in the study of biochemisty, pharmacology or biomedical science). The salary depends upon which company you are working for and how good you are at your job etc. But being a scientist requires a degree and thus it is a profession so the money is decent. Why do u ask?
To be in the cancer research do you have to perform surgery? What is the salary?
To be a cancer research you need a background in research and science involving medicine. You would need a degree in research or medical science and then another quafication in this field at masters level. The money will be good as it is with most reseacrh post but its not just a case of applying for a job, you have to work for years on developing a good reputation as a research scientist
