Why should liver cancer research and treatment be funded?

Hi H Logic

We shouldnt be financing any cancer research with drugs, surgery, or chemo involved. THere are plenty of other options to help assist people overcoming disease. Here is a good article on CANCER is BIG BUSINESS.

"The National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society have misled and confused the public and Congress by repeated false claims that we are winning the war against cancer -- claims made to create public and Congressional support for massive increases in budgetary appropriations." Dr. Epstein MD

For the first time, the American public will find out the truth behind the much-acclaimed "War Against Cancer" in a thoroughly documented expose of the policies and priorities of the cancer establishment -- the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the American Cancer Society (ACS). "THE POLITICS OF CANCER Revisited"challenges misleading claims that we have "turned the tide against cancer" and shows how the establishment is largely responsible for losing the winnable war against cancer. With equal accuracy and vigor, the book provides vital information -- long ignored or trivialized by the cancer establishment -- on a wide range of avoidable causes of cancer and on how readers and their families can protect themselves against cancer.

Why should liver cancer research and treatment be funded?
why not I would rather spend money on finding a cure and a cause than spend money on the mating habits of the fruit fly. I had a close relative die from complications of the cancer in the liver that he had. He had a 15 # tumor removed from his liver at the age of 13. He weighted less than 90# at that time. (closer to 80# ) so this cause is near and dear to me and you should be concerned about it as well. No one is immune from Cancer...Not even you.If you have every experienced Chemo therapy. Radiation, or any other treatments of this killer or been with a person experiencing the pain, you may understand it much better too. I do not want any other families to go thru what we went thru. If we can find a cure or more effect treatment then I feel there is not money better spent. What would you rather fund, that would make this world a better place.
Reply:Why not? It's a dangerous disease, like many others, and needs funding and support to find a cure.
Reply:Why should it not be funded? Other than bias of course. I suspect that you assume that liver cancer is a result of drinking. I am not aware of a correlation but even if one does exist, it is unreasonable to assume that it would apply to each patient.
