Since most of the money being raised for cancer research is public money, WHO WILL OWN THE PATENT?

Will the person or company that finds the cure get the patent or will no one own it?

In the U.S. patents are initially owned by the inventor. If the inventor assigns the patent or has a duty to assign the patent to someone else (such as an employer), then the employer owns it. If the employer has a duty to assign or share it with the federal government, then the federal government owns its share.
