i have given to this charity for over 40 years/ they develop a cure and then say its to expensive for me to have on the NHS, so i donate my money so the rich can have the cure. make your own mind up, my cash is staying in my pocket
Why are we giving our cash to cancer research?????????
i donate to cancer research because my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in november, after 2 operations, she was given the all clear in march, but had to undergo 15 sessions of radiotherapy after, the radiologists and doctors have been brilliant,i totally agree about the herceptin medication etc,why bring a medication out for cancer if it cant be used on the NHS?
Reply:Do you really need to ask this question 5 times to get rid of your frustration?
We do what we possibly can to cure and prevent cancer. NHS has nothing to do with us and we have nothing to do with NHS!
I work an average of 14 hours/day week-days and sometimes week-end... Why do you blame us?
Reply:There have been an vast increase in survival rates due to cancer research. 40 yrs ago if you had leukemia you died, now survival is ~60%. Of course there is still a lot of work to be done. You are welcome to donate your money to the charity of your choice, but don't think your money has been wasted on cancer research.
Reply:I give as much as possible to Cancer charities and MacMillan nurses.
The more money invested, the quicker the cure. The survival rates are increased and the treatments more forgiving.
I have had cancer for over two years and was given 6 months to live. Thanks to people who have donated to these charities, medical advancement has made sure I'm still here for my family and friends.
I would urge everyone to save pennies in a jar and donate to cancer charities.
You will be helping someone!
Reply:we under stand your pissed off get over it move on with your life
Reply:I donate because my grandmother died of bone cancer, because my great aunt died of breast cancer and because rich or poor, young or old - it affects anyone....and if just one life an be saved then its worth it.
You, sir are a troll.
Reply:Its your insurance that is saying it too expensive. The insurance will not pay for anything that is out of the standard and that is new, its political. Be sure you check out the cancer charity you are sending to, they are not made equal.
Reply:I, for one, am very happy with the results of cancer research. I'm only one year in remission but know full well that if it wasn't continuing I may not be here to enjoy my family and life. I'm not rich, if I didn't have health insurance I wouldn't have gotten treatment. Not many could afford the costs without it.
Reply:research is needed but should be funded fully by the government sure they could do it if they stopped funding immigration etc,and medicines should be available to all regardless of cost, like the man in the news today who has to pay 3000.00 every 6 weeks for his cancer tablets, its disgusting
Reply:i donate money because my younger and only sister sister died three years ago of non hodgkins lymphoma at the young age of 23.
We all have our reason to donate and that the important thing.
Reply:I am living with cancer and I couldn't agree with you more. The primadonas' at the Cancer Institute are only involved in a pissing contest to see who can find a cure first. When they do, it's as you said, too expensive. My treatment is weekly and costs over $10,000 per month.
Reply:Without knowing more, it's hard to be certain.
But I think your primary problem is that you are a troll.
Yours is not a serious question.
Reply:You have asked this question five times.
Reply:I get your point
Reply:Carry on donating and maybe they will find out how to make it cheap enough to be available on the NHS if not for you then maybe your children or relatives.
start up your own charity, for buying cures that NHS won´t pay for there must be thousands of people in the same situation, alternatively lobby the researchers/manufacturers and find out how it can be made cheaper without your money they wouldn´thave that cure.
Reply:You are being a little naive....you do realise that RESEARCH and MARKETING are two different things...Money is needed to develop medication, often over decades and immense cost..the costs have to be recouped from the sale of the drugs...Would you rather that they hadn't developed the drugs...I get your point about the health service not paying for the drugs, but there is only a finite amount of money...it is a decision which government has to make...or rather N.I.C.E.
It is rather like taking your bat home if now you decide that you are no longer going to donate...thats why its called a CHARITY.
Reply:ha I agree I had cancer and the American cancer society wouldn't give me the time of day but $300,000.00 later I'm still alive 7 years later no thanks to any cancer help
Reply:i donate because my mum died of cancer. i like to think that if even just one person can be saved the horrible death cancer brings then it would be worth it
