Do you have ideas that biology is affecting society or vice versa? For instance, cancer research...?

More examples like eugenics, transgenetic plants, birth control pills, steroids in sports, recycling, etc

Science should be affecting society and I believe it is. Contraceptives are the reason for young people having sex, spouses cheating, etc. Sports were there first and steroids came along and improved the sport. Its not like some1 created steroids and then thought " what can i create to better put my massive strength to work". The avian flu scare was created by science. But it is also a two way street, science wouldnt create genetically engineered plants if they didnt feel thats what people wanted. This was an interesting question and was hard to answer. Im not sure if I went where u wanted, but hopefully Ive helped in some small way.
Reply:we are the ones making the alterations--a bottle can't take itself to a recycle bin.
Reply:Yeah, um, biology doesn't really affect society. Biology is simple science. The applications of the science don't always fall to scientists and aren't always used in a scientifically sound way. If that were the case, we would have stopped drinking coca-cola in the 1920's, once it was found to have no medicinal use whatsoever.

The technology that comes from biology can and has impacted society. The answer to your question is more an opinion, since this is a 'chicken vs. egg' type argument.
