Organizing a school event for cancer?

I was talking with my brother and he said he'd be willing to donate his hair for cancer research, so it got me thinking that I want to try and organize a hair donation and raise money for cancer research.

But,, I'm kinda quite but I really want to try and do this.

Can anyone give me suggestions to get the motivation and tell me if you've organized and event, and steps you took to do it? I could really use help on this one!

good luck.
Reply:be very truthful and honest , be willing to do research . if you truly need motivation , think of the kids on chemo who have lost there hair , but the truth is the hair isnt the most important thing , it is the cure . i think you are great for wishing to help , but hair is only hair , i have donated mine to locks of love for years . in 2006 my son was diagnosed with brainstem cancer , i realized the hair didnt matter , the cure does . www.matthew-doucette.memory-of.com , he passed away 10-10-06 , good luck in whatever you do and god bless...........
Reply:Okay, I volunteered at a cancer center for a year and half . For wigs, its easy to take care of it when its fake hair. Plus if you want to donate hair, the hair can't by dyed, chemical altered, or been blow dryed or straighten everyday, because it wont hold up in the wig. If you really want to make a difference, try this website, http://www.shaneswish.com/. Its a kid with a form of cancer, who wants for a wish, to get the most birthday cards ever. You could pass fllyers around school and to everyone you know outside of school. I also got five other people together when I was in high school and sold candy I bought from Costco's and raised $880.00 for a local cancer Charity in my community. There is alot of money that is given to the big charities, its the small ones in local towns that need it the most. Remember one person can always make a difference!
