Give some big local companies a ring. Let them know that anyone who enters the auction will be made aware that the prize was donated by them.
Failing that, write to a popular television channel and ask them to donate some merchandise from their popular shows.
Iam organising a charity event for cancer research does anyone know where ican geta good prize 4 free2auction?

Reply:Print up a letter stating what the fundraiser is for and hit up some larger companies, you can also try smaller local businesses but the prizes will also probably be smaller, but you never know unless you ask. Good luck.
Reply:Try your local Chamber of Commerce and ring local companies etc for sponsorship.
Reply:I did a charity gig a while ago and our main source of raffle prices came from shops, supermarkets, health club membership, restaurant meal vouchers etc. Just go to management and ask if they would like to donate. Some will be rude and not give you the time of day. The ones that do give, get mentioned in the local press or are announced on the night.
Reply:I would ring around some local businesses and see if they can offer a donation. In exchange you will place their business logo on the posters or pamphlets.
Reply:Sorry, but you are wasting your time, cancer charities are the last people who will find a cure for the various cancer types. They have far too much of a vested interest in not finding cures; lost jobs etc. Many potential cures have been kicked into the long grass, because they are considered too expensive to give to all cancer sufferers. In Britain, it is almost impossible to find cutting edge cancer treatment in the private sector, so you have to go with the NHS. It took comparisons with America and Germany to reveal how poor our cure/life extension rates were.
Reply:I would go around to the area businesses and people you know and tell them what you are doing...you may be surprised at how many people are willing to help..and businesses can write off what they give on their taxes as donations...you may get things like gift certificates and such from businesses...or interesting things that would bring a lot of money for your auction...good luck and God bless..
Reply:try asking your local speciality shops or your drug stores and even ask a big business for some donation and don't forget too mention who donated what and thank them publicly. Even make thankyou certificates on your computer for the donors
Reply:When I did it I contacted our local toy manufacturing company, and a TV and appliance store in our area, I told them that I would put a note on the posters and tickets that their company donated some of the prizes. Just do not bother Toy's R Us, they are very rude, telling me that they would not give to a local things (company policy), that they only give to city's like Boston. Well I have not gotten anything in there since, and tell other people about what happened, and they will normally only go there if they have to. My daughter needed a wheelchair system, so we did a "night out" party with dinner with dancing for adults, and the kids under 12 to 14 a movie in an other room with parents looking in on them. We had a major prize, but we also had ticket draw prizes, and 50/50 cash prize. Hope this helps.
Reply:Approach all local stores and businesses they can only say no,i think you will find most will donate if you state the prize and who donated it they will benefit along with your charity in the form of advertising xx
